This book, How to Draw Everything, from Gillian Johnson, is visual, delightful, and very, very approachable. It’s meant for adults who are a little shy about their creative skills — but who are looking for ways to sketch better. Especially good for parents of toddlers and young kids, who want to draw with you — or who want to command you on what to draw for them.
The book gives you short instructions, lots of modeling, and games to play with yourself or your kids to learn how to draw quickly and (pretty) well. It’s interactive, bright, and a lot of fun!
I know it is not the most impressive drawing in the world, but this is one I did along with the book: a crayon drawing of a glass of Turkish tea. Trying to learn the simple lessons that the book teaches, to make something that still looks nice (for a quick sketch…)
